Atom’s 1st Solo Gallery Exhibition—Sra. Gallery
On 5 December 2024 at 6pm in the beautiful country of Barcelona, Spain, Atom Toys Studios showcased our first solo gallery exhibition at the Sra. Gallery. Helmed by its delightful owner and director—Sergio Gallegos Luis, the packed show was greeted with a warm reception where guests mingled and spoke to the team behind Atom Toys as we talked about inspirations, processes and personal experiences with art toys.
Sra. Gallery is a special place filled with passion for the contemporary designer art toy scene. Nestled in the middle of a busy street, step closer and you are greeted by a giant figure relaxing by the entrance, as though beckoning you to enter for a fun and relaxing time. Shelves of glass display cases lead you into the outer gallery before opening up to the main space filled with an extensive collection of designer art toys.
From the works of designer toy legends like Michael Lau and KAWS, popular artists like 6Forest Studio, mcbess, Gary Baseman, to up-and-coming artists in the designer toy scene, the gallery is packed with something for everyone, and one is easily sucked into the vibrant world of collectible art toys. Each visitor is greeted warmly before they are given the space to explore, and are encouraged to ask questions about the designs that drew their attention.
Sra. Gallery is also the first in Spain that is dedicated exclusively to showing the contemporary art of designer art toys and collectibles. Since its inception in early 2024, it steadily grew a strong following and was even featured in TimeOut.
When Sra. Gallery approached us about being their featured artist for December, we readily agreed and began planning the details of our first solo gallery showing. Discussions grew beyond the designs and concepts we are featuring to concrete plans of making it our first ever meet-and-greet event hosted by the entire Atom Toys Studios team.
In honor of the milestone event and to celebrate our partnership with Sra. Gallery, exclusive one-off custom colourways featuring our signature Joy Boy and Miss Bliss design were produced, along with our first large-sized Joy Boy in an exclusive colourway—Overdose.
While there was a good amount of digital sign-ups at our exhibition page, we were genuinely humbled by the huge turn-out during the event. We were even more surprised when some of the artists we’ve followed from the start, like one of the artists behind 6Forest Studio, came to the show and even shared some kind words with us. ❤️
Many followers also came just to show their support, new collectors and passers-by learnt about us, and we got to make many new friends during this wonderful evening. We thank you all for making the journey down to see us, and we hope you’ve had as much fun as we did hosting you along with Sra. Gallery. 🙏
